Why we built this

The founders of TotalOnboarder have done it all in the educational space. Running coaching academies, tutoring companies, and teaching in schools across the country. Throughout that time, the one thing that stood out to Matthew and his team was just how frustrating it was seeing good operators burn out and shut shop, purely because of the paperwork. It wasn't a lack of effort or skill, but the tedium and thankless job that was constant admin and paperwork management.

Throughout our own journey, the marketplace kept telling us to use enterprise-grade HR software, or build something custom, or "just get more organised". None of that solved the problems, though. Enterprise platforms were built for organisations ten times our size, custom builds collapsed under their own maintenance demands, often requiring more work, not less, and being more organised saved minutes, not the days that we needed back.

That's when we decided to build TotalOnboarder. The platform we wanted, how we wanted it, in the language that the education space speaks. Compliance fully built in from the ground up, and a system that knows the difference between KCSIE, NSPCC CPSU, and ICO from the outset. It's onboarding that respects the difference between a sports academy hiring a level-2 coach, and a tuition centre recruiting a head of mathematics.
